Tuki reviews employment generation scheme for jobless youths
ITANAGAR, May 13: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki reviewed his ambitious scheme of opening scopes of employment for youths of the state with officials of Employment Generation and Skill Development Councils in the backdrop of experiences gained in the last 6 months. Taking into account the hurdles experienced in providing gainful employment to jobless youths, Tuki directed modification in the Government’s strategy so that success rate is close to 100%. Accordingly a detailed programme has been chalked out to train about 8000 youths in the current financial year.
As per feedbacks received from training institutes several candidates dropped out at the last moment to pursue further studies while some dropped out during training due to various reasons. Tuki took serious note of the causes and felt that a different and student specific strategy has to be incorporated by the Government to make the novel and ambitious programme a success.
Earlier, the Government under Tuki as the Chief Minister had embarked upon the ambitious
skill development programme to provide employment opportunity to youths, particularly
matriculates and school/college drop outs. A first of its kind anywhere in the country,

Training duration ranges from an average of 3 to 6 months.
In the last about 6 months, 2625 youths have been deputed for training out of which 1073 have completed their training. 1038 youths have been offered placement with annual package of Rs. 1.00 lakh to 1.80 lakh. As per market practice, certain trades also offered boarding, lodging and transport facility in addition to salary. As per latest data, 735, about 71 % of those offered placement, have joined their jobs and 368 have either dropped out, not joined or opted for self employment back home.
Some of the most popular trades have been Beauty Culture & Hair Dressing, Spa and Wellness, Hospitality & Tourism and Banking & Accounting.
At least 223 youths have been selected by prominent 5 stars hotels in beauty & Spa

Encouraged by the response, government organized district level job fairs from 12 to 28 February, 2014 in order to reach out to remote locations to facilitate participation of youths from rural areas. This effort yielded good result and 4931 youth have been selected by 23 VTPs. They could not be sponsored for training during the elections. However, they will be deputed after the election process is over.
The programme has been a very successful experiment and many State Governments such as those of Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, etc. have organized similar job fairs taking the cue from Arunachal Pradesh.

ITANAGAR, May 05: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma
has extended his sincere greetings to people of Arunachal Pradesh on the auspicious

In his festival message, the Governor said that Buddha’s teachings are of eternal significance. The Noble Eightfold Path encompasses the entire Wheel of Dharma, with its central axis of ethical discipline. It has always facilitated in promotion of peace and happiness in the world.
The Governor wished that prayers and celebrations on the auspicious day will help in imbibing Guatam Buddha’s ideals amongst the people.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has also greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima to be celebrated across the world on Wednesday.
Joining the believers of Buddhism and followers of the Buddha’s teachings, Tuki offered his prayers for enlightenment of all human beings so that all may live in peace and harmony in a society devoid of sins.
“Today man is polluting his mind because of his evil vision. So, first of all he should develop sacred vision. See no evil, see what is good. Man is subjected to hardships because of his unsacred vision leading to sinful acts. Let’s follow the Buddha’s path of morality and attain nirvana in our own humble ways,” Tuki said in a message this evening.
The day of Vaisakh Purnima, which usually falls in the month of May, is considered most sacred by Buddhists all over the world. This day is significant for three reasons. It was on this day that Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born as Prince Siddhartha. It is also the day when He attained enlightenment and again on the same day attained Nirvana (Unity with the Absolute) years later.
“Lord Buddha preached that desires are at the root of all sorrow and hence advocated the path of right conduct and the right use of senses as the way to enlightenment. As simple human beings, this may be a difficult task for us….but on this day…let’s resolve to use our senses on righteous terms and make the world a happier one,” Tuki added.

Developmental project should not be politicized
Dear Editor,
On behalf of Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO), I would like to state our view regarding political interference going on for theconstruction of Greenfield Airport within the capital complex. Why there is always a big problem whenever any development activities take place? It is a well known fact that Airport Authority of India (AAI) has already chosen the Banderdewa site for construction of airport. However, I also wonder why government chose Hollongi site after foundation stone has already been laid at Karsingsha. We are forced to believe that there is political hand behind such decision. But I should not forget that wherever Greenfield Airport is constructed it will lead to development of our state. Calling Bandh Call will not bring solution but will delay the decision making and the real sufferer will be ordinary citizens. The entire situation is happening as everyone is crazy for claiming compensation from the project.
So, I on behalf of Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO) request everyone involved including NGO’s association, organizations, not to politicized the issue, otherwise it will stop development activities.
Yours,
Kame Kipa

Tempo drivers need respect
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to share the pain and problems faced by the tempo drivers in their day to day lives while doing their services to the people of Itanagar. Whenever any tempo drivers meets with an accident the people without trying to know the actual fact, wont even take a second to comment "Kutta tempo driver kaa hi galti hoga." Whereas in actual, the driver is in his own right track with all his valid documents like driving licence. There are ocassion when other vehicles overtake from the wrong side of the road and hit us. Tempo drivers always become the victim and target of every one. Even the traffic warden always keep their eye on us, where and when we are going to make mistake, whereas the other public vehicles always violate the traffic rules.
Some people say that we tempo drivers practice reckless driving. So, to those people I want to share a small knowledge that tempo has a maximum of 80 KMPH speed only but we drive at 20 to 30 speed and drive as slow as possible for the convenience and comfort of the passengers. Because slower we drive, the more passenger we get.
But the people of Itanagar forget that tempo drivers are always at their services. We drivers carry ten people at a time to take them to their destinations, from home to office, markets, hospitals, sumo and bus counters for their next journey without bothering whether it is rainy or sunny day. Even at times of floods in the road specially during rainy season, we tempo driver any how manage to drive them to their destinations. The people forget to think about the consequences if there were no drivers in the world. Many do not own their vehicle, they have to walk miles in rain or sunshine. Timely delivery of a single child would not have been possible without us. Many emergency patients would have died at homes if there were no drivers in the world.
On behalf of Arunachal Tempo Welfare Association I would like to appeal the public of Itanagar to deal in a gentle and loving manner and stop misbehaving or discriminating the drivers. Please don't look down us as germ or insect of a drain. We too are the sons of God and have the right to live in respect.
Though we tempo drivers are in poor profession we too have a heart and like to feel respected and loved from you people as a human being.
Yours,
Kokum Paffa
